Smrmwater Mana¢emenl Plan 12/28/97
• 2.14 Obligation Release
Minerals and Geology criteria will be used to determine if the SWMP areas are sufficiently
stable to enable obligation release. Generally, the closure and reclamation process
includes the following four steps. Closure and termination of permit coverage can occur
following the attainment of four conditions.
1. All equipment and similar materials have been removed from the site.
2. All mine waste have been removed and/or isolated from storm waters.
3. All soil disturbing activities at the site have been completed.
4. The surface of regraded mine wastes/facilities have been stabilized.
The first 3 criteria will be addressed during the initial year following termination of
activities at a specific area. The final criterion will be achieved by placement of physical
erosion reduction materials and revegetation efforts.
Specific Stormwater Permit Coverage Termination Criteria
Minerals and Geology criteria will be used to determine if the SWMP areas are sufficiently
stable to enable obligation release.
