1.0 Introduction and Summary
Agile Stone Systems, Inc. ("Agile") has filed application to place its Parkdale Project into
production. The Parkdale project is 11 miles northwest of Canon City, Fremont County,
Colorado as shown on Figure l . Following construction, mining activities include
1) aggregate from the gravel bar,
2) granite from a quarry and
3) sandstone from a small quarry.
Mined material will be crushed andlor screened prior to shipment from the property. Most
shipments will be by rail. Project activities could contribute to the degradation of surface
water quality due to the addition of sediment. The purpose of the project's Mining Plan,
Reclamation Plan and Storm Water Management Plan ("SWMP") is stabilization of
disturbed areas from erosion and slope instability. Specific measures to be implemented
include: slope flattening; grading to route uncontaminated surface water around disturbed
areas; providing appropriate erosion protection against design floods; and placement of
reclamation cover to protect against erosion.
The project requires that Agile file a CDPS Application for Discharges Associated with
Sand and Gravel Production Operations for Stormwater and Process Water for the
project. A Stormwater Management Plan ("SWMP") must be prepared prior to
application for coverage under the General Permit. This document represents the SWMP
• for Agile's Parkdale Project.
1.1 Organization of SWMP
The SWMP is organized to include Administrative Information (Section 1), Common
Technical Information (Section 2), Site Specific Stabilization Plans (Section 3), and
Appendices (Section 4 ).
