PART I
Page IS
Permit No. COG-500000
.FOOTNOTES -APPLICABLE TO PRECEDING PAGES
g/ When the measuroment frequwcy indicated is quarterly, the samples shall be collected during March, June, September
and December, if a continual discharge occurs. If the discharge is intermittent, they samples shall be collected during
the period that discharge occurs. If the permitfee, using the apprwcd analytical methods. monitors nay parameter
more Crequently than required by this Permit, rhea the results of such monitoring shall be included is the calculation
and reporting of the values rogtrired in the Discharge Monitoring Report Form or other forms as required by the
Division. Such increased frequency shall ahto be indicated. ,
h/ Definitions of Sample Type
1. A 'rnmpttsite' sample, fix monitoring mquiromeats, is a minimum of four (4) grab samples collected at equally
spaced two (2) hour intervals sad proportioned according to flow.
2. A 'grab' sample, for monitoring requirements, is a single 'dip and take' sample.
3. An 'IRStaatBneOLLS' measttremeat, for monitoring requiremnts, is a single reading, observation, or
mnsm„wment Performed On ®te.
4. A 'continuous' measuremmt, for flow monitoring requvemeats, is a measttremeat obtained from as automatic
recording device which continually measures flow,
5. A 'visual' observation, for oil and grease monitoring requirements, is observing the discharge to check for the
presence of a visible sheen or floating ail.
• 6. An 'in~situ' meastrromeat, for monitoring requiremnta, is defiaad as a single reading, observation or
measurement taken in the field at the point of discharge.
7. A 'Z4 hour composite' sample ie a combination of a< least eight (8) sample aliquots of at least 100 milliliters,
collected at equally spaced intervals during the operating hours of a facility over atwenty-four (24) hottr period.
For volatile pollutants, aliquots moat be combined in the laboratory immediately before analysis. The composite
must be flow proportional; either the time interval between each aliquot or the volume of each aliquot must be
proportional W either the wastewatet or effluent flow at the time of sampling or the total wastewater or effluent
flow since the collection of the previous aliquot. Aliquots may be collected manually or automatically.
i/ In the event an oil sheen or floating oil is observed, a grab sample shall be collected, analyzed, and reported on the
appropriate DMR or annual report. Ia addition, corrective action shall be takce immediately to mitigate the discharge
of oil and grease. A description of the corrxtive action hkea should be included with the DMR or annual report.
j/ Where, based on a minimum of 5 samples, the permittx demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Water Quality Control
Division that the level of total dissolved solids (T'DS) in the effluent can be calculated based upon the level of electrical
conductivity, the petmittew may meesttre sad report TDS in terms of electrical conductivity.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
I. Representative Sarrtnlina
Samples end measurements taken ae required herein shall be representative of the volume and nature of the monitored
discharge. All samples shall be taken at the monitoring points specified in this permit and, unless otherwise specified,
before the effluent joins or is diluted by any other wastesttram, body of water, or substance. Monitoring points shall
. not be changed without notification to and approval by the Division.
