RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E
[Rules&Regs§6.4.51
CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL PERMIT N2 M 2001-..........
REGULAR 112 OPERATION
"WEIMER ONE GRAVEL"
January 2001
[21 a.) Eventual reclamation for the entire site shall be restoration of the resulting
lowered and extended bench surface to non-irrigated range-land pasture, and retention of the
constructed water storage and settlement ponds as farm irrigation ponds. The scant topsoil
salvaged prior to excavation shall be utilized for topsoiling only the sloped areas of the pit
headwalls, since topsoil is so scarce and sloped areas are most vulnerable to erosion and re-
vegetation difficulties. Range grass re-vegetation of the finish-graded pit floor and headwall
slopes at the west, south, and east boundaries of the excavation shall conclude the
reclamation performed at the site. This is to resume the traditional use of the entire 43-acre
site for cattle grazing as part of the Weimer Ranch.
b.) The primary and traditional land use in the vicinity is dry-range livestock grazing.
Some irrigated agriculture occurs in lower lands to the north. Another traditional land use in
the area is mining both for surface alluvial gravels and for subsurface coal. Limited
underground uranium and vanadium mining have also occurred in the region. The chosen
rangeland grazing reclamation goal is consistent with the primary goal for other open-pit
mining operations, and with state and county planning goals.
c.) SECTION 3.1.1 COMPLIANCE
(3.1.1(1)) Post-Mining Use: Rangeland Pasture
(3.1.3) Reclamation Phasing:
1) Headwall Slope Reduction--- onpoin, as excavation is omplete [1d
tl\ 1 ) Z!) Pre-existing overburden stockpiles to be
transferred to worked-out pit floor prior to excavation.
7) Finished 2:1 headwall slopes are consistent with existing slopes of the
mesa which contains the site and the regional airport; particularly the
slope facing south to Naturita and the San Miguel River Canyon, but
15
