insulating the compressor and reducing the noise level that
- accompanies its operation. The total affected land surface
involved in the construction of this building amounts to 0.018
acres. The repair work needed on the two storage buildings
and the head frame will not disturb any land surface.
r
Because the Cash mine is currently flooded, the workings have
to be dewatered before underground rehabilitation and produc-
tion can commence. Most of the Cash mine water enters the
mine through the upper workings on the Freiburg vein. The
Cash mine workings flood to the first level and drain through
a drift 125 feet below the shaft. Tests conducted in this
area during 1976 by Systems, Science and Software of La Jolla,
California, and the U. S. Bureau of Mines' Denver Research
Center, determined that a 30 foot drop in the water level
occurs between September and December. This will allow the
rehabilitation of the first level station and the 125 foot
level to proceed without releasing any mine water into the
environment. The installation of a water purification plant
will enable the mine to be dewatered below this level without
discharging any acidic mine waters into Cash Gulch. More
information regarding this important aspect of the reopening
of the Cash mine can be found in Exhibit D under the section
on Water Resources. There will be no surface land disturbance
related to the installation of this water purification plant
as it will be a portable facility mounted on a trailer.
EXHIBIT C: MaP
See Exhibit C following page 5.
All of the owners of record of surface land immediately adjac-
ent to the Cash mine and the land that will be affected by the
proposed operation are listed below.
