EXHIBIT G (Cont'd) <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />1 <br />Mobile Premix Concrete, Inc. <br />Page 2 <br />February 16, 1978 <br />enclosing the north, west, and east sides of the existing pit at an approximate <br />elevation of 5,035 MSL. The natural ground elevation in the south portion <br />of the pit is already at an elevation of 5,035 (plus or minus) MSL. There <br />will be no open gaps in the dike and the dike will be seeded as an initial <br />step in the overall reclamation plan. The seeding will aid in the control <br />of dust. <br />' In a report titled "Flood Hazard Area Delineation, South Platte River, <br />Adams County" dated September 1977, the 100-year floodway elevation through <br /> the project area was determined to be 5,036.3 MSL. The 100-year flood <br /> elevation obviously exceeds the final proposed elevation of the dike/roadway <br />' by about 1.3 feet. The final configuration of this dike system should <br /> have little or no off-property effects for the 100-year flood. <br /> For floods of any magnitude, excess waters getting into the diked area <br />' should be detained and metered out into the Young Ditch via a 12 to 15 <br /> inch culvert located in the northeast corner of the existing gravel pit <br /> (see Exhibit No. 4). This would have a beneficial effect on property <br /> to the north of the mining operation by reducing flood peaks in Young <br /> Ditch. <br />' The existing dike system along the west property line is merely an extension <br /> of an existing dike beginning approximately one-half mile south of the <br /> East 104th Avenue at the Fulton Ditch headgate on the South Platte River. <br />' This dike has been breached several times during severe flooding in the <br /> past. <br /> The property was inundated during the flood in May of 1973. This was <br />' due mainly to a major breach in the dike south of East 104th Avenue. <br /> The three or four small breaches within the Mobile Premix Company property <br />' contributed very little water to the flooding in comparison to the major <br />breach south of East 104th Avenue. For this reason it is not anticipated <br /> that the restoration of the dike within Mobile Premix property would measurably <br /> affect the limits of a major flood similar to that of May 1973. Because <br />' the extent of past flooding was not significantly affected by this dike, <br /> Mobile Premix Company is not planning to restore or reconstruct the dike. <br /> However, should future basin planning efforts by government agencies entail <br /> a dike system along the South Platte River, Mobile Premix Company would <br /> cooperate to every extent possible. <br /> Item 2. The original configuration of the Young Ditch before any gravel <br />mining operations is shown on Exhibit No. 2. From aerial photographs, <br /> it appears that flows to the ditch resulted from rainfall and snowmelt <br /> runoff as well as ground-water seepage. Since the Consolidated Rock Company <br />' mining operation, the original Young Ditch has been essentially obliterated <br /> south of the north property line of the project area.
