Both of these letters are in reference
to an application from Consolidated Rock Company to rezone a total of
' 265 acres of land at 10901 Brighton Road from FC (Flood Control) to MC
(Mineral Conservation). The property currently has FC zoning on approximately
228 acres and MC zoning on 36-37 acres. Exhibit No. 1 to this letter
is a general location map of the project area. Since the time of this
' application, Consolidated Rock Company did go through bankruptcy and the
property has been acquired by Mobile Premix Company. This application
has been given the designation Case No. 6-77-ZP and the project area has
' been designated as the Howe Pit.
This letter constitutes a report of our review and findings concerning
water related items in these two letters referencing Case No. 6-77-ZP.
A. Letter dated January 18, 1977, from Adams County Planning Commission
to Consolidated Rock Company.

Item 1. There are presently two dike systems on the property in question.
One dike system lies along the north property line adjacent to the existing
gravel pit. The second dike system lies along the west property line
and para]lels the South Platte River. Both of these dike systems are
shown on Exhibit No. 3 to this report.
' The dike system along the north property line was originally constructed
of overburden material stripped from the adjacent gravel pit. It is approxi-
mately 1,750 feet long and varies in elevation from about 5,035 (MSL)
' at either end to 5,047 (MSL) near the middle. This puts the dike anywhere
from 4 to 17 feet above the natural ground elevation. In addition, a
roadway encircles the remainder of the existing pit and ties into each
end of the dike. The elevation of the roadway is about 5,035 (MSL) and
is between 0 to 4 feet above the natural ground elevation.
Mobile Premix Company is presently in the process of lowering the dike
' along the north property line to an elevation approximately equal to the
roadway (elevation 5,035 MSL). This would leave a dike completely
I'
i1
~::.':1..::._.-l~ L~J,~~`,i.~C?~Cl.ff1C. ~COfVSULTIIVG MATER EiVG11VEC=RS
7601 SOUTH FEDERAL BOULEVARD DENVER, COLORADO 80219 - (303)936-7466
z`r
