-3-
The proposed facilities in the D Ibrtal area are shown on
Fig. 2, and the topography in the area is shown on Fig. 3. Adminis-
tration, change house and shop warehouse buildings will be constructed
in the valley bottom along with a sedimentation pond. Coal prepara-
tion plant facilities and raw or.~'. storage silos will be constructed
on benches cut into the hillside alorg the south edge of the valley.
The administration building, bath house and shop warehouse
building are anticipated to be one story and high bay metal frame
structures. Approximate building pad elevations for these structures
and the remaining structures on the site are shown on the ir.~gs of
Exploratory Holes, Figs. A-1 through A-6. Maximum column loads for
the buildings in the valley bottom are anticipated to range from 25 to
150 kips.
The sedimentation pond is a mx3ified homogeneous embankment
section with a maxim~n height of approximately 30 feet. The
embankment crest elevation is 5629, and an emergency spillway d~annel
with invert elevation 5626 is planned for the west abutment of the
embanlanent. ~e upstream and downstream slopes of the enbankment will
be constructed at 3 horizontal to 1 vertical. Alining is planned in
the pond area behind the embarilanent to reduce seepage from the area.
The hoist house above the sediment pond area will be placed on a
mat type foundation wtiith will carry an approximate total load of
100 kills and a horizontal load of approximately 40 kips acting
approximately 12 feet above grade. The.ooal processing facilities at
the site consist of a surge bin, preparation plant, sa~rQling tower and
rotary breaker. The surge bin will have~maxim~nn column loads of
