Highway <br />Lialeon sad Safety Director. to make afield check of seed and <br />gravel pits found in E1 Paso County. <br />tie went east of Colorado Springs to where eha E1 Paso County <br />Highway napartment has numerow (small) Band and gxaval pica. <br />These pica are located in arroyos which are far swag from the <br />main road and have a variety of vegetation such ass <br />1. Gsllata ~ Hilaria Jamesii <br />Thasa species wemad to be maintaining themselves and reproducing. <br />The ridges and poe?;a around the pit had been oontourad to conform <br />with the surrounding area. Aestsrn whaatgraas - Agropyroa Smithii <br />Both Bob sad I observed oatele drinking water from teaks which <br />were at a 4 to 1 slope eo that the cattle could sot hurt themselves. <br />As;t we observed a pit in the P8~ HW} Sec. 28, T.18~ BbTW near <br />Monument. Colorado. this sand and gravel pit was largo and will <br />be used for a live-yeas period. <br />Tha topsoil ho been pushed aside and the pit is being contoured <br />to donlosm with the surrounding area which has the following <br />vegetations <br />1. Gambol oak - Quarcus Geialii <br />2. Poadereea Pine - Pines Ponderosa <br />9. Waters tiheatgrus - ngropyron Smlthii <br /> <br />
