km). The white-crvwnc>d sparrow was~the Trost abundant species ena~untered
(58.7 individuals/)rnt) and showed an affinity for t`tis type.
The song sparrow was observed only is the riparian habitat during the winter
surveys and was observed in sufficient numters to indicate an affinity for
this type . i7~e other species which s}>o~d a<1 affinity for ribarian habitats
during winter surveys was the Oregon juror.
Alfalfa field. Three passerine species were observed in the alfalfa field
during the winter surveys: western ;cadawlark, white-crowned sparrav and
raven. The western meadowlark and white-crowned sparrow were the most abundant `
passerines encountered with relative abundance indices of 35.3 and 12.0
individuals/)cr, respectively. This habitat supported the second highest
total avian population (50.0 inoividuals/San) and the second highest species
diversity index (0.78). The western meadowlark was observed only in the
alfalfa type during the winter transacts and exhibited an affinity for this
type.
Juniper. The juniper vegetation type supported three passerine species
during the winter surveys: Oregon junco, white-exenmed sparrow and raven.
The former species was the imst abundant species encountered (15.3 individuals/
km). This habitat type supported the third highest total. avian population
(17.3 individuals/)an). Three species diversity index (0.43) was
relatively low because mist observations were of the Oregon junco. Accordingly,
the Oregon junco exhibited an affinity for the juniper type.
Grassland pasture. The only twv passerine species encountered in the grassland
pasture habitat during the winter passerine transacts were the raven and ccn;.con
crag. This habitat supported the second lost total avian population (3.3
individuals/)a:~. The Shannon-+~einer species diversity index was 0.50.
Upland sagebrush. The raven was the only species encountered along the sare-
brush transacts d.u-ing the winter surveys. Accordingly, the Shanrx+n-cieiner
' diversity index was 0.0. This habitat sum Totted the lo..~st total avian porru-
lotion (2.0 irriividuals/ian) during the winter survey.
-35-
~~p 1 ~ 1980
•
(Revised July 2006) Attachment 2.04.11-1-42
