In addition to these, an ad- <br />ditional 9 holes were advanced to obtain information regarding the thick- <br />ness of the coal seams at depth. In addition to drilling the exploratory <br />borings, detailed field mapping was performed by personnel from CTL/Thompson <br />to obtain data regarding the spacing and attitude of various joint and <br />fracture patterns which had been exposed by the existing mining operation. <br />Samples obtained from the field investigation were tested in the laboratory <br />to assist in evaluation of the overall strength of the various materials <br />encountered and exposed. Field and laboratory data was used to develop a <br />general picture of the subsurface conditions for slope stability analysis. <br />• <br />• <br />
