VIBRATION ANALYSES
Vibration analyses were conducted using the data provided in review material item no.2
and the site plan of the wastewater treatment facility deve]oped from the site visit. The
estimated particle velocities and corresponding accelerations at each of the structures induced
by the three types of blasts (quarry, production, and access road) were determined using the
following equation:

Where: V=maximum peak particle velocity (inches per second)
K= ground transmissivity constant
R= distance to structure, (ft)
W=maximum pounds of explosive per delay period
Many dynamic and seismic loading analyses on structures are done in terms of the
acceleration of gravity (G's). In order to convert the peak particle velocities determined above
the following equation was used:
Accel.=27rvf/386.4
Where: accel=particle acceleration (G)
V=maximum peak particle velocity (inches per second)
F= Frequency (Hz) - typically vazies from 10 Hz to 100 Hz for quarry
blasting.
The accelerations were determined for each particle velocity using frequencies IOHz
and 100 Hz.
To determine the distances from the blasts to the various structures, the site plan
4
