present our conclusions and recommendations based on the proposed quarry operations, the
subsurface conditions and the nature of the facilities.
PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
It is proposed to construct and operate a quarry operation to the north of the Black
Hawk/Central City Wastewater Treatment Facility across state highway 119. The operation
will consist of an access road, production area and quarry.
SITE VISIT
A site visit of the wastewater treatment facility was conducted on October 28, 2005.
The visit consisted of touring the facility to inventory the various structures and to develop a
site plan. The structures inventoried at the site working from the east to the west were: control
building, solids building, filters UV building, clarifiers, aeration tanks, headworks and NPW
storage tank. Associated with the structures were various piping, chemical storage tanks,
pumps, etc. Sensitive instrumentation was observed in all of the buildings. Many of the
structures foundation depths were greater than 20 feet. Most piping connections were hard
connections and none of the controls or instrumentation was isolated from the structures. Most
of the chemical storage tanks were not tied down.
AVAILABLE INFORMATION
The following information was provided for review:
1.
