a/ This limitation shall be determined by the arithmetic mean of a
minimum of three (3) samples taken on separate weeks in a 30-day
.period (minimum total of three (3) samples);
b/ This limitation shall be determined by a single properly
preserved sample as required under monitoring requirements -
Sample Type;
c/ Monitoring is required only during periods of discharge. If "no
discharge" occurs, this shall be reported at the specified
frequency. (See Part B);
d/ Should a discharge occur due to snowmelt or a rainfall event,
sampling of all parameters shall be done as a minimum at the
beginning and at the end of the discharge.
e/ See definitions, Part B.
f/ When the measurement frequency indicated is quarterly, the
samples shall be collected during March, June, September, and
December if a continual discharge occurs. If the discharge is
• intermittant, then samples shall be collected during the period
that discharge occurs.
g/ Salinity shall be measured as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) or
electrical conductivity where a satisfactory correlation with
TDS has been established to the satisfaction of the Water
Quality Control Division, based on a minimum of five (5)
samples. Samples shall be taken at the permitted discharge
point.
h/ Salinity shall be sampled on a monthly basis until six samples
have been analyzed. Thereafter, monitoring shall continue on a
quarterly basis. Eollowing submittal of the first six months of
data, the Division shall determine eligibility of a waiver of
numeric limitations based on salt-loading. If a waiver is not
granted, the permittee has an additional six months to submit a
report addressing salt removal in accordance with Regulations
3.10.0-3.10.5 and Appendix A.
i/ Procedure for determining settleable solids is contained in 40
CFR 434.64. The method detection limit for measuring settleable
solids under this part shall be 0.4 ml/1.
j/ Should a precipitation event occur which is greater than the
10-year, 24-hour event, the permittee shall have the option of
submitting documentation that precipitation eras greater than the
• 10-year, 24-hour event. In lieu of such documentation,
limitations contained in Part I.F,.2.b. or Part I.A.4.b., shall
apply. This data shall be repocted as an attachment to
Discharge Monitoring Report (D;4t).
