4~ ~.
~,. ~

the Ranch area and the Ranch, therefor surrounds the site.
Agricultural uses of the major portion of the Ranch will con=
tinue and be unaffected by tyhe operation of extraction at the
site.
OTHER CRITERIA
Site Characteristics. Preliminary examination of
the site reveals that 50 feet of sand and rock exists for
possible extraction. It is therefor necessary to place a
rock crusher and sorter on the site. It is expected that
three to five men, residents of the local area, will be employed
to perform the required duties. The site has little or no
ground cover of soil and is, in fact, barren of vegetation, the
sand and rock being exposed on the ground surface. Ground
cover is, therefore, of minimal consequence, consisting of
only limited and occasional sagebrush. Attempt has been
made in the past to use the ground for agricultural purposes
to no avail, there being an absence of soil and extreme
porosity in view of the extensive sand and rock deposit.
Irrigation has been impossible and the water seeps immediately
through and returns to the river. As a further result of
such poor vegetation, wildlife is not found in the area. No
water from natural sources drains upon the site and any water
from surface runoff is immediately absorbed into the ground.
REHABILITATION PLAN
In view of the foregoing description of the subject
site, and considering the lack of soil to be disturbed,
attempts at extensive rehabilitation are of dubious ability.
Nevertheless, ground cover, in the form of replaced sagebrush
and minimal grass seeding will be attempted, consisting of
native grasses. Final grading will be established to prevent
sharp drops but will be conformed to previous and existing
contours.
-3-
