EXHIBIT D - WILDLIFE, WATER RESOURCES, VEGTATION AND SOIL INFOFMATION.
WILDLIFE,
Colorado Division of Wildlife(DOW) were reviewed to determine
the presence and status of wildlife in Chaffee County, and in
particular, the project site. The following documents were
reviewed:
1. Essential Habitat for Threatened and Endangered Wildlife
in Colorado, Wildlife Management Section, DOW, Department
of Natural Resources, State of Colorado, 1978.
2. Colorado Bird Distribution Latilong Study, DOW, 1978.
3. Colorado Mammal Distribution Latilong Study, DOW, 1978.
4. Colorado Repile & Amphibian Distribution Latilong, DOW, 1978.
5. Chaffee County Select Species List, Wildlife Inventory
Information, DOW, 1977.
Information on threatened and endangered wildlife indicates the
Eagles are not common the the Arkansas Valley.
The proposed mining activities, which cause only limited surface
disturbance, should not adversely affect wildlife in the area.
~ Becasue of residences in the immediate area, and traffic on U.S.
Highway No. 285, approximately one-quarter(') mile West, has already
been impacted by man.
The project will not impace winter habitat, nesting or wildlife
calving areas.
