strongly sloping soil is on uplands and fans.
Included with this soil in mapping are small areas
of soils that are more eloping or leas sloping. Also
included are a few small areas of Nelson, Kim, and
Tassel soils.
Runoff is rapid, and the hazard of erosion is severe.
If irrigated, this soil is well suited to pasture and,
to a lesser extent, wheat, barley, or alfalfa. Under
dryland management it is suited to pasture or native
grasses. Capability unite IVe-2, irrigated, and VIe-2,
80-Otero•Nelron sandy loam, 3 to 25 percent
eloper. This wmplax consists of gently sloping to mod-
erately steep soils on uplands. It is about 60 percent
Otero sandy loam and S6 percent Nelson sandy loam.
Otero sandy loam ie less eloping at the top and near
the base of the slope, and Nelson sandy loam is steeper.
The Otero soil has the profile described as representa-
tive of the Otero aeries. The Nelson soil has a profile
similar to the one described as representative of the
Nelson series, but the surface layer is sandy loam.
Included with these soils in mapping are about 16
percent areas of Tassel soils and Rock outcrop.
Runoff is medium to rapid, sad the hazard of erosion
ie severe.
These soils are suited to pasture or native grasses.
