(i) an estimate of the periods of time which will be required for the various stages or phases of
the operation:
•This operation will not have a definite phasing plan Mining will start on the east side of the deposit
where the road comes in from Lane 36, and proceed south until that portion of the deposit is mined.
Mining will then move north and continue until that portion is mined.~,A m xlna ium of 40 acres will
~e_affected at any one times Predicting business demand is difficult, but present projections are that
10 - 15 yeazs will be required before mining is complete and reclamation is finalized.
(ii) a description of the size and location of each area to be worked during each phase:
As stated eazlier, this operation will not have definite phases but the southern portion will be mined
first and the northern portion after that. Mining will robably occupy 20 - 25A with stockpiling and
processing another 6 - 9A. The balance of the area e 1n various stages of final reclamation.
(iii) outline the sequence in which each stage of the operation will be carried out.
As stated above, mining will start where the road from 36ih Lane enters the deposit on the east side,
and will move south until that portion is mined. Mining will then move back north until that area is
depleted. Reclamation will be an ongoing part of the operation following mining and stockpiling as
closely as operationally feasible.
CRS 34-321-1 12 (b) (VIII) of the Act states: "A timetable estimating the periods required for the
various stages of the mining operation -the operator shall not be required to meet the timetable, nor
shall the timetable by subject to independent review by the Board of office."
(f) A map in Exhibit C may be used along with the narrative to present the following
information:
(i) nature, depth and thickness of the deposit to be mined and thickness and type of
overburden:
The aggregate i1r this area in other pits ranges from 6' - 20' deep, and the same is expected for this
pit.
The Cascajo series soil has no overburden. As described above, the top 4" - 8" contains 60% gravel
and cobbles, plus some humus which constitutes the growth media.
(ii) nature of the stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined in sedimentary
deposits:
The SCS reports states as follows: "This soil is a source of commercial gravel. In many places near
Pueblo the gravel is strip mined down to the underlying shale."
