EXHIBIT "D"
MINING PLAN
(a) Description of the methods of mining in each stage of operations related to surface
disturbance:
Mining methods will be consistent throughout the life of this mining operation. The topsoil or growth
media will be salvaged and stockpiled on the pit perimeters in an orderly berm suitable for seeding
in the event that it is to remain for more than one growing season. They will also be placed in the
most strategic locations for replacement in reclamation. The aggregate will be removed primarily by
front-end loader for transport to a screening or crushing and screening system for processing into the
desired products as business demand dictates and stockpiled for future use. According to the SCS
report for Cascajo soil series which constitutes the aggregate area, the topsoil or growth media ranges
from 4" - 8". Topsoil is a misnomer for this soil type, since it is described as a very gravelly sand
loam with 60 percent cobbles. Over the years, some humus has been built up, which helps in
revege[ation. The pit floor will daylight to the contours on the perimeter. This operation consists of
removing the top of a knoll with the final surface left flat.
(b) Earthmoving:
The earthmoving equipment to be used on this site will consist primarily of front-end wheeled
loaders, dozer, self-propelled scrapers or any combination thereof.
(c) Water diversions and impoundments:
There will be no water diversions or impoundments on site since no water will be used or required
for this operation, and none is available. The operator is applying for a Colorado Water Quality
Control Division Stormwater Discharge Permit concurrently with the development of this application.
(d) Size of the area to be worked at any one time:
I[ appears that a maximum of 40 acres will be affected at any one time, and will consist of mining,
processing and stockpiling, with reclamation following these processes as closely as operationally
feasible.
(e) An approximate timetable to describe the mining operation and the relationship behveen
mining and reclamation:
As stated above, reclamation will follow mining and processing as closely as operationally feasible.
Present plans are to start reclamation ~vi[hin 2 - 3 years or sooner, after sufficient operating room has
been made available, and to follow as closely as possible as mining continues. There will be no
backsloping since the pit floor will daylight on the perimeters.
