McArdle
Headley Farm Pits
1313 Sherman Street
~ `~; ~ PAP o~c
~~~ ~~Q ~Q'a~Qc
~ O~
~0~~.
Dear Mr. D7cArdle:
Here is the information that you requested:
A. Exhibit D Mining Plan
1. A maximum of 72 feet to a nunirmun of 22 feet. Mining
will be done all the way to Blue Shale.
2. Topsoil will be removed and will be used to reclaim
land formerly torn up by State of Colorado by their
former mining operations. The inches of topsoil that
will be removed will vary from 6 to 18 inches. There
will be no topsoil stockpile but it will be used as
it is rgnoved.
3. All of our gravel pits when gravel is removed will become
a water storage reservoir. Therefore, there will be no
topsoil placed on bottom of lake, only thing to be done
is slope and seed sides and that will be done when the
ultimate distance that the pit will be extended will
be reached. At this date we have one slope of 1250 feet
which can be sloped and seeded within a year. As we
before stated in the answer to question #2, the stripping
topsoil that is to be done in the future as has been done
in the past is to reclaim land formerly torn up by the
State of Colorado. Topsoil needed for our reclamation of
side slopes and stockpile area is to be accumulated by us
out of our settling ponds as four to five thousand yards
per year is removed frcan settling ponds. In the past
15 years an additional 32 thousand was removed from our
main storage reservoir. There will be no topsoil
stockpiles maintained or piled in any area. The stock-
piled depth runs from a minimum of 6 inches to a maximum
of 18 inches.
B. Exhibit E
4. A minimum of 1 foot of topsoil will be replaced over
disturbed areas.
E. Exhibit L
The mining in Pit #1 will be placed in the Major category.
The mining in Pit #2 will be placed in the Minor category.
The mining in Pit #3 will be placed in the Minor category.
The mining in Pit #4 will be placed in the Minor category.
