2/83 <br />64--Glenberg fine sandy loam, 1 to 6 percent slopes. This deep, <br />well drained soil is on floodplains and low terraces. I[ formed in <br />calcareous, stratified alluvium derived dominantly from mixed material. The <br />native vegetation is mainly shrubs and grass. Elevation is 5,800 [0 7,000 <br />fee[. The average annual precipitation is 12 to 16 inches, the average <br />annual air temperature is 50 to 54 degrees F, and the average frost-free <br />period is 100 to 125 days. <br />Typically, [he surface layer is very pale brown fine sandy loan: about 4 <br />inches thick, The underlying material to a depth of 60 inches is licht <br />yellowish brown stratified sandy loam and loamy sand. <br />Included in this unit are small areas of I~orriorthents and Y.averson <br />soils. Included areas make up ahout 10 percent of [he total acreage. <br />Permeability of the Glenberg soil is moderately rapid. Available water <br />capacity is low. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. <br />Runoff is slow or moderate, and the hazard of water erosicn is sligF.t to <br />moderate. <br />This unit is used mainly for grazing and wildlife habitat. It is also <br />used for irrigated pasture. <br />
