The <br />purpose of the site investigation was to assess the likelihood of encountering <br />jurisdictional wetlands, and potential habitat for Preble's meadow jumping mice (Zapus <br />hudsonrus prebler~, Ute ladies-tresses orchids (Spiranthes diluvialis), and western <br />burrowing owls (Athene cunicularia). <br />The site investigation consisted of a pedestrian and vehicle inspection of approximately <br />55 acres located within Section 6, Township 2 North, Range 67 West of the Sixth Prirne <br />Meridian, Weld County, Colorado. Both properties are bounded on the north by County <br />Road 26 and on the south by the Last Chance Ditch (see General Location Map). An <br />unpaved farm road n,nn;ng north-south separates the Lohman and French properties. <br />Currently, the properties have several ongoing land uses including agriculture (hay), <br />grazing, oil and gas production, and residential Adjacent land uses include oil and gas <br />production, agriculture, grazing, and residential. Findings of the preliminary site <br />investigation are detailed below. The general location of any potential habitat for species <br />of special concern and potential jurisdictional wetlands are depicted on the attached map. <br />Waters of the United States <br />Waters of the United States, regulated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), are <br />all waters which were, aze, or could be used in interstate commerce; and in Colorado <br />include (but aze not limited to) rivers, streams, ponds, sloughs, and wetlands. There are <br />three water conveying features on the Lohmatt and French properties. The first feature is <br />the Last Chance Ditch that skirts the south property line of both the Lohman and French <br />properties. The second feature is the seep ditch that is located immediately north of the <br />Last Chance Ditch. The third feature is a concrete lined drainage channel that enters the <br />Lohman property south of the Last Chance Ditch. The Omaha District of the Corps does <br />
