<br />DOWB FLATB --2 <br />study are received evaluated and approved by the DMG. <br />3) The operator will be required to monitor and report acid-base <br />neutralization potential in some of the geologic materials to be <br />mined or exposed. If necessary the operator will be required <br />to implement a separate environmental protection plan. 4) The <br />operator will complete pre-blast surveys and maintain a blast <br />monitoring program throughout the life of the mine. 5) The <br />operator must address any adverse impacts to the stability of <br />structures within 200 feet of the affected area boundary, either <br />by agreement with the potentially affected owner or by an <br />engineering study that demonstrates to DMG's satisfaction that <br />impacts are unlikely. <br />Objections were received from individual citizens living <br />adjacent to the permit area on the south and west sides, the <br />Indian Gap Homeowners Association, and Friends And Neighbors of <br />Dowe Flats group. Issues heard by the Board included; blasting <br />effects on surrounding areas, dust problems from mining <br />activities, impacts to wildlife, final reclamation of the site, <br />and impacts to water quality and flood control from the <br />constructed crossing of St. Vrain Creek. <br />During the 20-25 year life of the mine, 312 acres will be <br />mined at the Dowe Flats quarry, within a total disturbed area <br />affecting 695 acres.
