The subsoil is a brown heavy loam about 10 inches thick. The <br />substratum is a grayish brown silty clay loam about 16 inches thick over soft <br />weathered shale. Permeability of the Lyrnanson soil is moderate. Available <br />water capacity is low. Surface runoff is rapid and erosion hazard is high from <br />water. <br />The Starman soil has a dark grayish brown very cobbly sandy loam surface <br />abcut 3 inches thick. The underlying material is a light yellowish brown extremely <br />cobbly sandy loam about 15 inches thick over highly fractured hard sandstone. <br />• Permeability is rapid. Available water capacity is very low. Surface runoff <br />is rapid and erosion hazard is high from water. <br />The Roxal variant was apparently sample.
