The surface layer is a weak fine granular loam to 16 inches. Underlying this
• is a massive, usually wet light clay loam to 36 inches. This is over a C2 horizon
of saturated stratified loam to clay containing coarse fragments.
This unit may contain 25% of the 27B soil.
Permeability is moderate. Available water capacity is moderate. Effective
rooting depth may be 60 inches or more. Surface runoff is slow and erosion
hazard is slight.
27B -Unnamed loam, 6 to 10 percent slopes.
This is a deep, well-drained soil of alluvial origin which occurs in the drainages
other than the parts of the Grassy Creek floodplain mapped 27A. It is differen-
tiated from the 27A by being slightly steeper, drier, and well-drained.
• This soil occurs primarily uncer sagebrush. The A horizon is a weak fine granular,
non-sticky, non-plastic, noncalcareous loam 15 inches deep. The underlying
C horizon is a weak moderate subangular blocky loam to sandy clay loam to
60 inches or more. Buried Al horizons may be seen in some areas.
This soil is a good source of topsoil to 48 inches.
34E - Coutis fine sandy loam, 12 to 25 percent slopes.
34F - Coutis fine sandy loam, 25 to 65 percent slopes.
This is a deep, somewhat excessively drained soil on strongly sloping to moderately
steep mountain sideslopes at elevations of 6,900 to 8,400 feet. It formed in
residuum weathered from sandstone. Included in this unit are areas of Winevada
fine sandy loam and Skylick loam.
II.I-13
