Permeability is moderate to moderately rapid. Rooting depth extends to 20
inches in the Splitro to 40 inches in the Winevada. Available water capacity
• is loN. Surface runoff is slow and erosion hazard is moderate to high depending
on depth to sandstone.
This unit and the related Winevada and Coutis units are excellent topsoil sources.
Topsoil should be stripped all the way to the light colored sandstone bedrock,
average depth in this unit about 20 inches.
The X8F phase has the same mix of soils but overall will be shallower; it should
average 1 foot stripping depth with up to 2 feet in swales.
D10 - Binco silty clay loam, 12 to 25 percent slopes.
This is a deep, well-drained soil on strongly sloping to moderately steep ridges
• and mountain sideslopes at elevations of 6,800 to 8,200 feet.
The surface layer is a loam to a light clay loam about 12 inches thick. A
B2 horizon extenas to 30 inches which is a heavy clay. The top foot is a
good topsoil source, the lower limit is easily discernible by the beginning of
a tight heavy clay.
Permeability is very slow. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches. Available
water capacity is moderate. Surface runoff is rapid, erosion hazard is moderate
from water.
27A - Unnamed loam, 0 to 6 percent slopes.
This is a deep, poorly drained soil. It occurs along parts of the Grassy Creek
floodplain. It is formed of mixed alluvial materials. Small areas having 15%
to 35% by volume cobbles and stones may occur.
ii.x-12
