•
r 1
LJ
2.04.7(3) Alternative Water Supply Information
The data from the surface water monitoring program indicate water
quality diminution does not occur because of mining. During runoff the
volume is high and the dissolved solids are normal for streams in Twenty
Mile Park. Beaver ponds and stock ponds retain the flow long enough for
suspended solids to settle. Dissolved solids during low flow or seepage
periods are about the same as during runoff.
If mining operations should lead to diminution of surface water quality/
quantity downstream, and if it is realized that the only use is livestock
watering, then an alternative would be to provide storage ponds for high
flow-good quality water captured during April-May for use during the summer
and fall months. Pumping groundwater from the mine area is not viable as
there is just not that kind of volume present.
8-61
II.G-1
