Drill sites 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 would be drilled on the edge of existing roads. Sites 6, 7, 8, 9 &10
would be drilled at the terminus of overland travel to the designated sites. The most direct route
to drill sites would be taken while minimizing damage to vegetation. Routes would be flagged
prior to travel.
An existing road would be upgraded to access drill sites 11 and 12. The road contains numerous
areas where erosion has made the road impassable. These areas would be repaired; the road
would not be widened and the road grade would not be changed. No surfacing would be placed
on the upgraded road.
Drilling would be by auger methods with samples obtained by split spoon methods. The auger
holes would be approximately 4.5 inches in diameter and range in depth from 25 to 100 feet,
with an average depth of 50 feet. Drill holes not completed as monitoring wells would be
backfilled with cuttings to within 10 feet of the ground surface and a cement plug would be
placed from the top of the cuttings to within 3 feet of the ground surface. Each drill site would
