• 1.2.6 Cultural Practices
In addition to 1999 replaced topsoil revegetation practices, Trapper also conducted several
other cultural practices. These practices are addressed below.
Mature Shrub Transplant Clumps
In 1999 Trapper completed construction of two mature shrub clumps one in Derringer Pit and
one in Ashmore Pit. Two new mature shrub clumps are proposed for construction during 2000
in Ashmore Pit.
Drainage Reconstruction
The acreage's, location and methods are fully described in Section 3.0 of this annual report.
Contour Ditch Construction
During 1999, Trapper constructed approximately 5,900 linear feet of contour ditches in
Derringer, Flintlock and Ashmore Pits. Ditches were constructed to aid in our runoff control
system. After ditches were constructed, they were seeded to the appropriate range site mix
based on their location.
Stock Tank Construction
No Stock Tanks were constructed during the 1999 field season. See Section 6.
• Stock Tank Reclamation
No Stock Tanks were reclaimed during the 1999 field season. See Section 6.
Developmental Drill Sites
During 1999, Trapper reclaimed approximately 4.36 acres of developmental drill sites using
the approved seed mix. The specifics and locations are presented in L. Johns's 1999 Develop-
mental Drilling summary.
Topsoil Piles
See Section 5. Topsoil stockpiles were sloped and seeded to the approved 1999 perennial
topsoil pile mix. Approximately 11 acres were treated.
Sediment Dams
During 1999, Middle Flume#1 sediment pond and East Middle Flume#1 sediment pond were
constructed. West Pyeatt#1, Grouse#1, and Oak#1 were cleaned. All dams were broadcast-
seeded with the approved seed mix.
Historical State Agricultural Holdings
As mining operations progress across our coal leases, Trapper affects former state agricultural
leases. Since 1976, Trapper has permitted the agricultural lessee to continue farming
practices but with the stipulation that Trapper withdraws acres from crop production when
. mining advance dictates. Areas outside mining prestrip operations are in historical crop rest-
rotation (small grain) or converted to perennial haycrop. Cropland areas mined and reclaimed
are seeded to the approved perennial haycrop mix. Trapper continues to manage these areas
until they revert to historical use after bond release.
1.2.6 Previously Revegetated Acres
