2.04.7(1)(a)
• of the piezometer wells in the proposed dam in the proposed
sedimentation pond and one in the proposed underground development
waste disposal site will also be sampled quarterlly for quality.
Initial results of the quality samples are Figure:a 2.04.5-5d and
2.04.5-Se.
In addition to these six piezometer wells, two new monitoring point
have been established. They are designated a s CE-81-2, monitoring
points A-1 and A-2. They are located east and west of the main
branch of Ward Creek. These holes were drilled to further test the
alluvium and to core the "E" coal seam, and were completed with PVC
casing through a substantial portion of the alluvium in order to
monitor water levels in the alluvial material. These well are
located such that by monitoring water levels once a month
initially, then quarterly after the first year, at: the same time
measuring flow rates and the elevation of water in Ward Creek,
influence of induced recharge to the "E" coal seam during mining
should be evident. If the induced recharge is minor as it appeared
upon underground inspection in May, 1981, recharge from the Ward
Creek should substantially overcome any outflow due to the mining
operation.
In addition, at least one more monitoring well is being planned to
be installed at the approximate western edge of the permit area
• Section 11 near CE-80-3C and will be completed in a :similar fashion
for the purposes of monitoring the alluvial water levels. In
addition to water level monitoring, water quality seunpling will be
done at these points on a quarterly basis. The Division will be
notified when a decision has been reached concerning the new well.
See Section 2.05.6(3)(b)(iii) for a current ground water monitoring
schedule.
(b) Additional information which describes the recharge, storage
and
•
-61a- Revised May 21, 1993
