UNDERGROUND <br />MINING ACTIVITIES -- MINIMUM REQUIREb!EPITS FOR INFORMATION ON <br />ENVIRONbtENTAL RESOURCES <br />Section 2.04.1 Objectives <br />The objectives of 2.04 are to ensure that each application provides <br />the Division a complete and accurate description of the environmental <br />resources that may be impacted or affected by proposed surface coal <br />mining operations. <br />Section 2.04.2 Responsibilities <br />(1) It ie the responsibility of the applicant to provide, except <br />where specifically exempted, all information required by 2.04 in <br />the application. <br />(2) It is the responsibility of State and Federal government <br />agencies to provide information for applications as specifically <br />required by 2.04. <br />Section 2.04.3 .General Requirements: Site Description and Land <br />Use information <br />(1) A description of the existing premininq environmental resources <br />that may be affected or impacted by the proposed surface or <br />underground mining activities. <br />Grand b!esa Coal Company's Rea Canyon N1 bane and proposed N2 Mine <br />are in a canyon on the southern slope of Grand Mesa. Prior to <br />mining practices the area in this small box canyon was a wildlife <br />habitat. The mine started around 1916 and it is assumed that the <br />residence on the property was established near that time. The <br />residents :Wined coal and farmed land north of the mine. <br />• <br />39 <br />
