Peerless Resources agrees to no coal storage in this area. A 2 foot high berm
• will be constructed to impound runoff from the 10 year, 24 hour storm as an
alternate sediment control measure in this area.
Culverts
Drainage from the disturbed area will be routed to the sediment pond by a
combined surface drainage and culvert system. The major conveyance is a
channel located on the east side of the facilities area. Culverts have been
designed to carry drainage beneath the haul road at selected locations. The
drainage basins which contribute flow to these culverts are identified on Map
12. Runoff calculations and the nomograph used to size culverts have been
included in the appendix to this exhibit. Also included are the design
• specifications for the dual culvert system where Ditch No. 1 passes beneath
the haul road entrance.
Permanent Coal Gulch Channel
Following mining at the Coal Gulch Mine, the Coal Gulch drainage will be
re-established in its approximate original position as shown on the
Post-mining Topography Map (Map 14).
The area has been previously disturbed by mining operations in the early
1900's so the location and configuration of the original channel is not
precisely known. Peerless Resources, Inc. plans to re-establish the channel
in the best suited location given backfilling and grading constraints. The

Revised 9/12/86
9
