Of ~~ti~ra! c.~.;SJJfC"~
This is in reply to your letter to Ken Geisert dated May 20, 1980 concerning
the above pit.
A. Legal Description
1. The legal description should read SW; SW; and Lot 5 Section 27.
B. Pre-Mining Plan Map
1. The location should read SE; SW; and Lot 5 Section 27.
C. Mining Plan
1. There will be more than one settling pond used during the mining of
the pit. As stated in Item No. 11 of the mining plan, the pit will
be worked at various times. The location of the settling ponds will
be within the permitted area and located where best suited for the
area being mined. The water can be transported to the Colorado River
from the settling ponds in different ways such as a pipe or by natural
ground seepage. It could also be pumped to the river. The method
used will depend on the operation and the contractor. Discharged
water is sampled and tested by the Division of Highways as well as
being checked by the Health Department.
2. The size of the ponds will depend on the amount of water being pumped
from the pit which cannot be determined at this time.
D. Reclamation Plan
1. The plant and stockpile area will be scarified prior to placing 4"-6"
of soil overburden over the area.
P.O. Box 2107 GRAND JUNCTION, CO 81502 (303) 242-2862
