h) No water is anticipated in conjunction with the operation. There could be
instances when heavy rainfall makes the site too wet to continue. At those
times, mining will simply cease until the site becomes dry enough to mine
again.
i) Mining will not go into the groundwater at the site.
j) Since no water is to be used, there should be no injury to existing water rights.
k) No refuse, acid, or tonic producing materials are anticipated at the site. Other
mining enterprises in this part of Yuma County have never yielded any such
materials.
1) The finished pit will be returned to use as general agriculture. This would
include use as a tail water pit. The pond would also provide some habitat and
a watering area for wildlife in the area. There should be no disturbance to the
hydrologic balance.
m) There is no processing of the material anticipated at the site.
n) The commodity to be mined is gravel, sand, and clay.
o) The mined materials will primarily be used for construction material for pads
and roadways.
p) No explosives will be used in this operation.
EXHIBIT D -Reclamation Plan
The primary reclamation plan for the pit is to re-slope the mined area, which is
approximately 5.8 acres, and leave the area as a tailwater pit and provide an area for some
wildlife watering and habitat. Side slopes of the pond area will be vegetated with grasses
as recommended by NRCS. Slopes will be no steeper than 3:1. The initial 1-6" of
topsoil material will be replaced, then be seeded according to recommendations received
from the Yuma County Natural Resource Conservation Service.
a) Fencing of the area will not be required, as there are typically not cattle
grazing at the site.
b) Slopes no greater than 3:1 will be left in the completed pit.
