• mulch will be applied to the topsoil after it is respread onto the
surface.
4.06.3 Storage
The estimated quantities of topsoil to be stockpiled are found in
Section 2.05.3. As can be seen on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 10), a
topsoil stockpile will exist for support facilities incidental to the
underground mining operations. This stockpile results because immediate
redistribution is not practical because of the inherent nature of the
underground operation. The support facilities must remain in place for
the life of the operation. The stockpile has been placed on a flat and
stable portion of the permit area such that this stockpile can be
protected from the external effects of both wind and water erosion. The
stockpile has also been placed to avoid disturbances other than those
incidental to its deposition and removal. A topsoil marker sign will be
placed on the stockpile to prevent inadvertent disturbance, unnecessary
• compaction, or contamination. At the location where topsoil will be
stockpiled, in place topsoil and vegetation need not be removed prior to
stockpiling the topsoil.
The topsoil stockpile will be seeded with the perennial seed mixture set
forth in Section 2.05.4 to control erosion.
The topsoil stockpile will be broadcast seeded upon completion of aT1
soil removal. In addition to the stabilization planned by seeding, it
is anticipated that a volunteer growth will also establish on the
stockpile due to the inherent seeds found in the topsoil upon removal.
The stockpiled topsoil will not be moved until required for
redistribution on the reclaimed area at the conclusion of mining
operations.
C ~
J
4.06-2
