• iiiiiiiiiiiniiiiii
LAFARGE I/irz CLVfc~c!'~n~G' May 2a, 2000
Dear Neighbor.
The property on the enclosed maps is currently going through two separate permitting processes.
One is with the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology and the other is with Larimer
County.
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology receives public comment through certified
letters, informal conferences, and a public hearing, if necessary. The enclosed public notice is
being sent to you as part of this process.
The Larimer County Special Review receives public comment through a neighborhood meeting,
planning commission hearing, and board of county commissioners hearing. For those of you who
attended the netghborhood meeting uu iviarcL :~, 2vv~i, iiidr~ j~ii fJ: yC G: C:.ii[: i:eut]. ':'e e i 8`rc
reviewed them and will be trying to incorporate some changes as we proceed through the
permitting process. Larimer County will send out notices for [he public hearings dates once they
are set.
Several issues were raised at the neighborhood meeting and the following studies are currently
being conducted via Larimer County`s request:
• Traffic impact study to address traffic patterns and road quality.
• Flood plain modeling to determine the appropriate locations of the stockpiles and plant and to
show that our operation will not impact the properties upstream or downstream.
• Air modeling to show that our operations will meet EPA, State, and County requirements for
dust, silica, etc.
• Weed control plan as per the new Larimer County Land Use Code.
One of the concerns voiced in the neighborhood meeting was the "attractive nuisance" that will
be created by' the reclamation of Phase 2 & 3 into a lake. We will be working with the Flatiron
Companies (property owner) over the next few years to look at alternate ways of reclaiming this
parcel (i.e. backfilling, wetlands, draining to the existing pit to the north, etc.). We will be
asking Larimer County and the Division of Minerals and Geology to incorporate this flexibility
into our permits.
If you would like to receive an update on the status of these studies or the entire permitting
process, please feel free to give me a call at (303) 657-4331.
Sincere)
Julie Goet emoeller
Senior Land Manager.
WESTERN MOBILE INC., a subsidiary of Lafarge Corporation
TECHNICAL SERVICES
1590 W. 12th Ave., Denver, Colorado 80204-3410
Office: (303) 667000 Faz: (303) 657-4339
