Geotecttnical Investigation
• The surface upon which the exploration activities will occur is owned by Cyprus
Western Ooat Ooag,~any. Twentymile has the legal riot to enter the property to
corduc-t its explcrcatia~n activities.
Site Description -Sites 1 and 5 are located within an area that has been
disturbed previously by CYOC's surface minim activities. It should be noted
that site 1 is located within a bowl release area. Sites 2 thrax~i 4 are located
on undisturbed areas adjacent to the above referenced surface mine. In reference
to Sites 1 and 5, topsoil was salvaged prior to mining the area and then
reapplied during the reclamation. In reference to sites 2 through 4,
apprr+Yi~tely 12 to 18 inches of soil exists within the area.
The reclaimed area has been seeded to a pastureland mixture, while the
undisturbed area can be characterized as rangeland dominated by sagebrush. Any
areas disturbed during the site investigation will be reclaimed and seeded with
CYOC's approved pastureland seed mixture.
• The site investigation area is located within the Foidel GYeek drainage. Given
the fact that all surface runoff drains to Pond D, no impacts are anticipated far
Foidel GYeek. The borings will be into spoil and adjacent bedrock, and except
for arty of the borings that may be wnverted to monitoring wells, the borisgs
will be grouted or backfilled upon cwtq~letion of the irnestigation. No impacts
are anticipated to the Wadge Overbuzdert aquifer.
The site investigation will minimize disturbance by conducting the field
activities during periods of favorable weather and field conditions. Therefore,
unless adverse field or weather oortditions are encountered, topsoil will not be
salvaged from access ranter into the boring or test pit sites. If an area needs
to be leveled to aoco4mtodate the auger or backhoe the available topsoil will be
salvaged aryl placed adjacent to the site. The auger site will be a~rx *-~+yi~++~tely
30' x 30' , and for sites located on reclaimed areas this would rec~,i re salvaging
arnrr~Yimately 33 CY of topsoil per site. Sites located on the adjacent
undisturbed area would require salvaging approx;mately 83 CY of topsoil per site.
Upon ooaq~letion of the activities the topsoil will be redistributed over the
. site. For sites that will ~,;~ minor leveling the material will be retained
within the pad and the pad regraded to blend in with the surrourdirg topography
upon oa~q~letion of the boring.
MR 92-75 780-38 (e) Revised 05/08/92
