The construction process associated with the extension is as follows:
topsoil salvage, inscribe diversion ditch, cut and fill work, placement
f
of railroad bed materials, construction of railroad track. Each will
be described in the following paragraphs. An existing road will be
used to access the site. Given the short duration of the project,
topsoil will not be removed from the existing road. Upon completion of
the project the road will be bladed as needed.
The disturbance associated with this project will result in the
stripping of approximately 21 inches of Coutis Fine Sandy Loam firom the
area. Refer to Map 29, Energy Mine No. 1 and 2 Soils Map for the
location of this soil in relation to the railroad track. It is
estimated that approximately Z acres will have topsoil salvaged from
~-
the area. Based upon the 21 inch salvage depth, approximately 5800 CY
of topsoil will be stockpiled for use in final reclamation of the
area. The stockpile will be stabilized by seeding it with the
Pastureland seed mixture. The location of the stockpile is shown on
the Permit Renewal Map 5 (MR 87-2) (Eckman Park Mine Plan, Roads Power
Lines and Facilities).
In conjunction with this activity, CYCC will construct a diversion
ditch above the extension to route undisturbed drainage around the
site. The calculations for the ditch are as fiollows:
TRACK EXTENSION DIVERSION DITCH
Drainage Area (acres 11.0
Max. Elev 7400
Min.
