II •
EXHIBIT E
RECLAMATION PLAN

The affected land shall be reclaimed to it's original land use of
limited wild life habitat. Due to the severity of slope of the
rerrian and the hard rock outcropping it would not be applicable
to other productive uses.
General reclamation plan is to backfill the quarried areas with the
sandstone overburden, level and grade the overburden to a slope of
2 to 1 or less and revegatate with a mixture of Bittergrasa, Mountain
Mahogony, Rabbit brush, Indian ricegrase and Sand dropseed. The
seed will be hand broadcasted at 18 lba per acre in the spring.
A test plot was established in the fall of 1976 to determine the:
feasibility of revegetation and the most economical means of obtaining
~•
the desired results. The following species were planted; Indian rice-
grass, Western wheatgrass, Rabbit brush, Mountain mahogany, and Antelope
bitterbrush. In addition, 28, 7. year old Pinon Pine seedlings were
added in the spring to determine the possible success of reestablishing
the Pinon pine trees in the quarried areas. It is much too early to
~ make any evaluation of the test plot except that it appears that re-
vegetation will be slow and sparse ( as is the original vegetation).
The method of backfilling the quarried area with sandstone overburden
was chosen as the best means of achieving reclamation of the affected
land for two main reasons.
1. The sandstone overburden will consist of sufficient quantity
}
i
i
7
~~ of fine material which will allow root growth of grasses,
