Box 771
Eagle, Colorado 81631
Dear Mr. Quinn:
First , may I apologize for the lateness of my response
to your letter of December 6, 1977 . We have been quite
busy lately and as a result there has been some "back
up" in our correspondence.
Your letter requests our Company to advise specifically
what kind of protective devices would be advisable for
the private- crossing located at our Mile Post 331 . 69
located in the SVI NW'k of Sec . 1 , T5S, R85W, Eagle
County, Colorado, and the expected cost thereof. The
protective devices which would be required at this type
crossing containing two ( 2) tracks are Railroad standard
automatic flashing light signals including crossing gates.
The estimated cost to install this crossing protection is
$86, 740. 00. Railroad Company forces will install and
thereafter nciintain the signals at the expense of the
licensee .
Also, the existing crossing is not sufficient or wide enough to
accommodate the type of vehicles that will be using the
crossing. We would require that the crossing be widened to
at least 24 feet and that a new heavy duty type crossing be
installed on our tracks . The estimated cost to install a
new 24-foot wide crossing on both the main track and passing
track using a gumwood type crossing is $15, 500. 00. This
work would also be performed by Railroad Company forces and
