I <br />made the trip on April• 14, 2005, several days after the pits were dug. The parcel of land <br />is located in Section 2, Township 20 South, Range 69 West, Fremom County, Colorado. <br />The attached serial plmto, map and digital photos show the location of the property, the <br />pits aad the material that was excavated from theta <br />The pits were dug initially with arubber-tined backhoe, and then deepened with a larger <br />trackhoe The depth of l~ excavations combined wiHr the spacing across the properly <br />allow for a reasonable sub-sruface evaluation of the graveUcobble zone. A brief <br />descripticm of the pits and the litlmlogy of the material follows: p <br />• Pft 1: to ~, goadrant of area; depth to water approximately 13 fee>y 84~` '_~ ' <br />indres of uceo~olidated material above graveUcobble zone-0omposed of 32 <br />inches of A horizon soil a~ 52 inr.}res of ~ subsoil; gravel/cobble zone <br />cwt and evenly disdn'buted fi»m bottom of subsoil layer to water level; top is ~ l ~ _, <br />sine of meieaial approximately 12 inches; some iron stain in material. -' <br />• Pit 2: in southvvesfi~a quadrant of area; depth to water approximately 14 feet in <br />tnm~; $3 inclu;s of umwnsofidatect material above main graveUcobble zone- <br />composed of 16 inches of A hodaoan soil, 20 inches of clay subsoil, 12 inches of a _ ~ ~ `' <br />gravel ride seam, and 35 inc.Ires of sandy material; remainder of material evenly <br />distributed gravel and cobble, top size generally l2 inches, with slightly more <br />fices than pit 1. <br />• Pit 3: In east-cee~hal portion of area; depth to watea approximately 13 feet in <br />trench; 12 inches of A horizon soil, then transitions directly to graveUcobble zoce; <br />localised pocket of sandy material oa east side of trench; graveUcobbte size r <br />distribution consistent with other pits. <br />
