• slopes are planned to generally be about 1.75 and 2 horizontal to
1 vertical. At Portal No. 1, 1 to 1 cuts and Cills are pro-
posed. Cortipacticn of tine subgrade and embankment fill is
specified at a minirtium oC 95P of standard Proctor density (ASThI
D698) at a moisture content 4rithin 2 percentage points of
optimum.
If design information for the structures varies significantly
from that described above, we should be notified for geotechnical
review and to perform additional analysis as required.
SITE COtIDITIOtJS
The site is located south of County Road 335 about two miles
east of Piew Castle in the NE1/4 of Section 6 and N4l1/4 of
• Section 5, T.6S., R.90w. The surface and geologic conditions of
the site were discussed in our prelirrtinary geotechnical investi-
gation. The site, which has remained vacant and undeveloped
since our previous study, consists of strongly to steeply sloping
alluvial fan deposits derived from Grand Hogbac;< Ridge to the
south. The lower part of the site is strongly sloping and may
contain valley alluvium mixed w::th alluvial fan deposits below
about elevation 5700 feet. The lower part of the site has grades
ranging from about 6a to 10p dow•r to the northwest. The middle
and upper part of the site has grades ranging from about tOA to
35A. Above the site ttie hillside becomes very steep with grades
approaching 100p. Total elevation difference across the proposed
facilities area is about 250 feet.
Chen &rlssociates
