-3-
Cior~s based on the proposed construction and the subsurface
• conditicns encountered. Nydrolegic conditions which may impact
the construction are heyond the scope of this report.
PROPOSED COPISTRUCTIOtJ
Specific design information for the dewatering structure was
not available at the time of this study. We understand the
dewatering structure will be steel-frame about 65 feet high and
used to process coal which will be mined by the hydraulic
method. The lower floor oC the structure will be slab-on-grade
near elevation 5760 feet. Cut depth of about 5 to 15 feet with
respect to natural ground surface is proposed. The structure
will have some vibrational loading due to shaking in the coal
• processing. Column loads are expected to range to a maximum of
about 300 kips as provided i;y YJestar. Column bays in the struc-
ture will be on about 17 feet centers.
The thickener will consist of a steel tank about ;2 feet in
diameter and about 16 feet tall and located near the dewatering
structure as shown on Fig. 1. Grading in the thickener area will
be similar to the dewatering structure area with cut to a maximum
of about 20 feet below existing ground surface.
The grading plan for the site indicates extensive cutting and
filling will be needed to develop roadways, laydown, coal storage
and parking lot area;. A sedimentation pond will also be con-
structed near the bottom of the d>sturbed area. Maximum planned
cut depths will be about 35 feet and maximum fill depths will be
. about 25 feet tiritfr respect to existing ground surface. Graded
ChenRAssociatcs
