WATER INFORMATION
EXHIBIT G
This operation is not expected to directly affect the
surface or ground water systems at this site. The lower reaches
of Owl Canyon parallel the south east side of the site. An
ephemeral drainage that feeds Peck Creek traverses the site from
the west central part of the site to the northeast. While we
will remove some surface stone from the ephemeral drainage bottom
and sides, active surface mining will take place on the upper
levels of the land above the drainage. We will not disrupt
surface drainage from the site to an extent that will affect the
historic flow of precipitation across the site.
We do not have information on the ground water depth over
this site but it is not near enough to the surface to be impacted
by mining. Observations of the mining operation that this site
surrounds, suggest that they did not encounter ground water when
mining 15 to 20 feet below the existing surface. No ground water
will be exposed by this operation, so consequently a Substitute
Supply Plan and/or Augmentation Plan will not be needed for this
facility.
There are no ditches or laterals crossing the site and no
surface or subsurface water will be impacted by the mining
operation. There are no wells close to the site so we are not
able to accurately establish the depth to water. There are no
wetland areas on the site that will be impacted by mining. If
required a Storm Water Discharge Permit will be prepared for the
facility. The pit will be graded such that all surface water
runoff is allowed to follow its historic patterns.
We estimate dust control for the various parts of the
operation, i.e., roads, etc. will be >5 ac-ft per year. This
water will be obtained from a source approved for that use. No
water will be used for reclamation, nor will the revegetated
areas be irrigated.
The operator's intent is to minimize the disturbances to the
prevailing hydrologic balance of the affected land, of the
surrounding area and to the quality and quantity of the surface
and ground water system, both during and after mining and
reclamation. We believe we are in compliance will all state and
federal laws and regulations governing water and water rights as
we understand them.
26
