• particle size analysis and texture (see Appendix E for results of
these analyses).
(c) The soil map is presented in Appendix E,
Figure lE, showing type locations, topsoil stripping depths and
phases of stripping topsoil within the permit area.
(d) The suitability of topsoil within areas to be
affected and which have been affected by mining is presented in
Appendix E of this application.
(e) Vegetation information (Appendix F) gives the
potential productivity of soils within the permit area. Appendix
E reports the limitations of soils within affected areas which
may restrict revegetation.
(2) Soil sampling intensity was based on one type
• location per mapping unit within pit limits. Sampling intensity
increased as soil material for use as topsoil was suspect.
(3) Wyoming Fuel Company will not be using selected
overburden material as a supplement or substitute for topsoil for
two reasons: 1) adequate topsoil is available to cover affected
lands to depth of 18-24" and 2) overburden in the areas of mining
is generally very high in sodium and would be unsuitable for use
as topsoil.
2.04.10 Vegetation Information
(1) The vegetation map is presented in Appendix F,
Figure 1F. Two plant communities, big sagebrush and alkali
sagebrush have been delineated. WFC did not disturb any alkali
sagebrush community; therefore, none was reclaimed.
• -22- (Revised April 13, 1990)
