C~
•
E X H I S= T S-- R E C L A M A T I O N P L A N
Reclamation shall essentially be in accordance with the SCE
recommendations. Topsoil shall be removed to a depth of
approximately six nches as recommended by the SCS. It is
now our intent' o a so place a layer of natural {fines at
least six inches deep over the disturbed ar prior to
~cemen~t of t psoil. Our original intention was to
proceed with reclamation from West to East as the mining
progressed, however, it is now estimated that mine traffic
will not allow any signi£icent reclamation to begin until
mining has been completed.
Topsoil will be stockpiled end seeded with Creasted
Wheatgrass a temporary erosion control measure. The mined
area will be relatively flat and no slope will exceed a
3:1. Seeding will be done between November 1 and April 1.
Any compacted areas will be ripped or scarified prior to
placement of seed. Fertilizer will be tilled into the soil
as recommended by the SCS. As a minimum 40 lbs. per acre_
each of available elemental nitrogen (N) end phosphoric
acid (P205) will be used. Seed will be placed using a
drill and will consist of the following mixture and rates:
SPECIES VARIETY 1B5-PLS/ACRE
Sideoats grams Niner, Vaughn 3.60
Blue grams Covington, Vaughn 0.60
Little bluestem Cimarron, Pasture 1.40
Sand dropseed 0.05
Galleta Viva 1.20
Mulch will consist of hay or grain straw at 2 tons/acre
mechanically crimped into the soil.
The area will be protected £rom grazing and trampling until
the seeding is well eatabliahed. The property owner has
indicated that supplemental watering might be available
depending upon the availability o£ his water resources, and
climatic conditions et the time of planting. No commitment
car. be made regarding supplemental watering. Roads
presently in existence will remain in place.
