Mr, Peter V. O'Connor
RE: La Poudre Sand & Gravel, Inc., File No, 83-90
September 8, 1983
PROJECT NO. 139-811
C-8 The only area originally considered to be out of sequence was Area 3,
This was changed at the suggestion of the Division of Wildlife in
order to make use of this area as long as possible to allow tree and
shruh growth to better establish in the other areas. The latest
change in the boundary to eliminate mining in the Southwest Quarter
of Section 19 will remove Area 3 from the permitted boundary and
therefore allow all areas to be mined in their numerical sequence,
Any changes will be returned to the board for review.
D-1 The final amount of meander will depend on the actual amount of over-
burden to be replaced, The shorelines shown on the Reclamation Plan
have been calculated to reflect the amount of overburden estimated
from the soils report, The general configuration is to be maintained,
-- the mass of the final "in-fill" will vary with the quantity of over-
burden to be replaced,
D-2 The pi~~es interconnecting the ponds was suggested by the Division of
Wildlife to maintain better circulation for the pond water. The pipes
will be below the normal water level and clogging should be minimal
and require minimal maintenance,.
In the case of clogging, a raise in the pond water level could occur.
Ground water flow would tend to stabilize the levels, If flooding
occurs from this cause, it would be as sheet flow from the higher
ponds to the lower ponds or directly back to the river, Normally this
amount of water will be minimal,
D-3 The Soil Conservation Service considered a legume in the seed mixture
but feels that the natural Red and Strawberry Clover along the river
will integrate the grass plantings by natural succession, If this
does not occur during the first phases, the above clovers will be
added to the seed mix at the rate of lk/Acre,
3
