FRO Resouroes
•
This complex oocura on ridgetops and aideslopee at intermediate elevations
and developed from mixed calcareous residuum from inrterbedded earWstone,
ciltatone and shale. It is coeQrised of about 33 percent Meyerson boils,
30 percent Redcreak soita and 20 perosnt rock outcrop. Small areas of
Rentsac were included in mapping. Rentsac boils are shallow and
loamy-skeletal. Thew iraluded soils occupy about 1S percent of the unit.
The Meyerson soil is shallow, calcareous and well-drained. 1n a typioal
profile, the surface layer is light yellowish brown sandy loam about 2
inches thick. The subwrface soil is light yellowish brown channery loam
about 5 inches thick. The substratum is pale brown calcareous channery
silty clay about 7 inches thick and is underlain with fractured,
interbedded sandstones, siltstone and shale at a depth of 1~ inches.
The Meyerson soil has moderately slow to slow permeability and medium to
moderately rapid runoff. The erosion hazard is low to moderate from wind
• and moderate to high from water. Available waterhotding capacity is
moderate. Effective rooting depth is 10 to 20 inches.
The Redoraek soil is shallow, loamy textured and well-drained. Jt
dew loped from calcareous siltstorw and sandstone. In a typioal profile,
the surface layer is pale brown loam about 4 inches think. The subsurface
soil is pale brown sandy loam about 4 irahea thick. The substratum is
very pale brown calcareous loam about 8 inches thick and is underlain with
slightly fractured caloareous loamstone at a depth of 16 irahee.
The Redoreek soil has moderate permeability and medium runoff. The
erosion hazard is moderate to high Prom wind. Available waterholding
capacity is moderate. Effective rooting depth is 10 to 20 inches.
C~
II.I-25
