The area to be affected covers approximately 45 surface acres and is part o£ Valco's surface mining operation to obtain Band and gravel. This pit area is located approximately 2 miles south east of Rocky Ford on IIS Highway 50, in the NE1 of the NE? and in the Ez of the N6J4 of the NF4 of Sec.21 T23S R56W. LAND STATIIS All the land on the pit area is owned by Valco, Inc.; Earl J. Brubaker, President and Frank Jobe, Excutive Vice President. LAND IISE: The primary land use after reclamation will be recreation land and wildlife land will be a secondary land use. CONSERVATION TREATMIIEPITT IINIT N0. 1 RECREATION, LDLIFE LAND - Field 1 Begin 1 45 Acres 197'$ RECREATION AREA IND?ROVEMEPPP: Recreation area improvement will be carried out in order to increase the attractiveness and usefulness of this field for recreation while protecting the soil and plant resources. The planting of grasses, legumes, flowering plants, shrubs and trees which will enhance the area for aesthetical and recreational values will be carried out as set forth under Critical Area Planting. All new plantings will be protected from fire and grazing. Cultivation will be timely and frequently enough to keep tree and shrub plantings free o£ competitive weeds. Replanting of trees and shrubs which do not survive the first year should be made the following year. 22
