Revised 11/85
• During retreat mining in the southernmost portion of the mine, only
partial pillar recovery will be conducted. Approximately the last five
(5) southernmost pillars will be left nearly intact. About one-third of
these pillars will be slabbed leaving two-thirds of each pillar.
Leaving these pillars for support will minimize the effect of subsidence
on Lone Pine Gulch and spring 6-26 located in Lone Pine Gulch. The
Geology/Hydrology Map (Map 6) shows Lone Pine Gulch and spring
locations.
Retreat mining will be completed in the 1st left panels in Year 14. In
Years 14 and 15, retreat mining will begin in the 3rd west sub-main and
the south main.
During year 15, a rock slope should be developed in the area
approximately 2,100 feet in from the portal. The ventilation system and
the haulage system used in the C Coal Seam can also be used for recovery
of coal from the B Coal Seam operation. Because mining is not projected
• in the B Coal Seam during the forthcoming 5 year permit term, a detailed
mine plan for the B Coal Seam has not been included herewithin. This
plan will be prepared and submitted to the appropriate government
agencies as part of the second or third five year term of the permit.
The major equipment to be utilized at the Bear No. 3 Mine is set forth
in Table 9, Equipment List, in the Bear Coal No. 3 Permit.
The average height of the C Coal Seam is approximately six (6) feet.
The surface work for the portal entries and surface support facilities
will begin in early 1982 following approval of the Mining and
Reclamation Plans by the Division and OSM. Details of the surface
support facilities and portal installations are described in detail in
the Bear Coal Permit.
•
-21-
